Caliendo, Beverly M. 74, of Aurora, strong of will and heart, passed away Tuesday October 16, 2012. She was born March 11, 1939, the daughter of the late E. Emmons and Ethel M. Rees. Bev graduated from East Aurora High School and earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degrees from Northern Illinois University. She taught Behavior Disorder Science at Morton East High School in Cicero, IL, until her retirement in 1998. Prior to her teaching career Bev bred, trained and showed AKC Champion Papillion's and worked for ArmourDial Inc. An ardent advocate for the conservation and preservation of The Wolves of the World, Bev traveled to India, Africa and the Smokey Mountains to assist in behavior studies to aid in research to further the protection of the species which are threatened or endangered. She was enamored by the North American Grey Wolf and would ultimately concentrate her focus with them. A devotee to all animals, Bev adopted numerous retired racing greyhounds as well as cats, who all managed to live together in harmonious bliss. Providing seed and suet for the birds and corn for the squirrels gave her great satisfaction as well as many hours of viewing amusement and pleasure. She was an enthusiast of Pavarotti, fan of the Indy 500 and cherished her annual journey to the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Bev is survived by her partner of 18 years, Anita G. Christoffer; her son, Scot Caliendo; her canine and feline companions. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William Rees.
