Alice M. Bunce Obituary
Bunce, Alice M. 91, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012. She was born on January 31, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of the late Enea and Maria Mazzotti. Alice grew up in the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. She married her childhood sweetheart, Merritt Morse, in October of 1942. Merritt was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1943, where he served in General George Patton's division. Merritt was killed in action in Nancy, France in 1944. Alice then married Roger Bunce in 1947. Roger retired from the U.S. Marines Corps after twenty years of service in 1963, during which the family was stationed in North Carolina, Virginia, New Mexico and New York. She selflessly supported Roger in his second career at Argonne National Laboratories, as she continued caring for her family. After Roger's passing in 1991, Alice lived with her daughter Joanne and maintained an active family life. She was a gifted artist and worked as a fashion illustrator for Lane Bryant in New York City at the age of eighteen. Alice was a selfless, devoted mother and wife to her family. Survivors include her son, Art Bunce, of Escondido, CA, her daughter, Joanne (Richard) Jaycox, of Aurora, son, Nathan "Billy" Combs, of Escondido, CA, her grandchildren, Michael Jaycox, of Providence. Rhode Island, Katherine Bunce, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Colleen Jaycox, of Rennes, France and Alex Bunce, of New Lennox, IL, a sister, Anita (Robert) Cappossella, of Pittsburgh, CA, her daughter in law, Charlotte Bunce, of New Lennox, IL as well as several nieces, nephews and many cousins. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, Alice was preceded in death by her son, Gary Bunce and two half brothers, Leo and Charles Mazzotti. Funeral services will take place at 11 A.M. on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora with visitation from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M. prior to the service.
