Fredricksen, Louis A. Age 92, of Aurora, IL passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at Provena Mercy Center. He was born January 2, 1920 in Chicago, IL. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII and the Korean War. He attended the Leadership Academy in the military and was decorated with the Bronze Star four times, he was a Prisoner of War and he made Normandy Beachhead. He was a member of the New Apostolic Church and various fraternal organizations including the Council of Clubs, and was Captain of his neighborhood watch. As a civilian, he was a local hero for saving a child's life as he was working as a crossing guard. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Herta; one son, Jim Fredricksen and his son, Jeremy both of Aurora; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Gates of Montgomery and Janette Houston of Aurora; one brother, Melvin (Jackie) Fredricksen of OK; and several nieces and nephews, both in the US and Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gerald and William; two brothers, Lomar and Albert Fredricksen. Family will be receiving guests Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 Broadway, Montgomery, IL. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012 at New Apostolic Church 275 Oak Street North Aurora, IL. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora.
