Nash, John 89, of Aurora passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Provena McAuley Manor. He was born on May 22, 1923 in Aurora the son of the late George and Rose (Simon) Nash. John attended East Aurora High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served until 1946. On August 11, 1942, John was an original member of the crew that commissioned the U.S.S. Alabama. He married Shirley Marklein in 1951. After his discharge, he began working for Austin-Western Manufacturing as a machinist and eventually became the superintendent of the machine shop. Following his retirement at Austin-Western, John worked for the East Aurora School District for ten years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church as well as the Phoenix Club. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed his workouts at the Prisco Center with his friends. John is survived by his daughter, Candace (Douglas) Johnson; his son, Jeffrey (Sandra) Nash; three grandchildren, Hollie (fiancée Cooper Carson) Johnson, Tyler (fiancée Lydia Zoloto) Johnson and Sara (Byron) Peters as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Nash in 1997; his sister, Florence Didier; and his brothers, Pete, George and Louis Nash. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Mykyska officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park.
