Robert Bruns Sr.

Bruns Sr., Robert M. April 10, 1926 January 14, 2013 Robert M. Bruns, Sr., of Clarendon Hills, died on January 14, 2013, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Bruns; his sons, Patrick R. Bruns of Boulder, CO, and Robert M. Bruns, Jr. of Sugar Grove, IL; and two step-daughters, Susan Ramey (Michael) Frank of Springfield, MA, and Ann Loveless of North Richland Hills, TX. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Trenton Bruns, Benjamin Fisher-Bruns, Elizabeth Fisher-Bruns, Daniel Fisher-Bruns, Amber Ramey and Andrew Loveless. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife Greta Franck Bruns, who died on June 11, 1988 and by his daughter-in-law, Cindy Runkle Bruns who died on November 14, 2002. Bob was born on April 10, 1926 in Park Falls, Wisconsin.He was the youngest of four children born to Henry and Gertrude Bruns. Robert graduated high school in 1943 and immediately entered the military, serving eight years in both World War 2 and the Korean War.After his honorable discharge, he worked as a meat cutter for National Tea Foods, and then as a janitor for Aurora Public Schools. Bob was an avid conversationalist and reader, with a particular interest in history and biography. He is remembered as hardworking, a good neighbor and friend, and as the kind of guy you'd want to have living next door to you. He died peacefully after a courageous struggle with prolonged illness, and is now whole and well and at perfect peace.
