Melvin E. Stewart

Stewart, Melvin E. 84, of Aurora, IL came to rest February 1, 2013 at home where he spent his last weeks surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Whitmore Arkansas, on July 18, 1928. A longtime Aurora resident, he retired to Grand Marsh, WI to the beautiful wooded home he shared with his wife Marlene, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and his membership with the American Legion Post 273, until returning to Aurora in 2011. Beloved husband of the late Marlene; loving father of Pam Jorgensen, Evaughn (Joe) Hackett, Dawn (Ralph) Stegall, Starlene (Patrick) Kelley, Teresa (Ken) Wedeen, Heather (Rob) Wagner and daughter-in-law Dawn Hatcher; cherished grandfather of Erica, Joseph, Kristina, Jennifer, Melissa, Justin, Ben, Ryan, Jim, Leon and great-grandfather of six; dear brother of eleven. Melvin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS O'Hare during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, a good joke and especially making his homemade noodles for his family and friends. His love of his wife and family was great. Family will be receiving guests Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 Broadway Montgomery, IL. Funeral Service is Wednesday noon at the funeral home. The Reverend Jerome Leake is officiating. Interment is Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Aurora, IL.
