John Taylor

Taylor, John R. 83, of Boulder Hill died peacefully at the Aurora Rehabilitation and living Center on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. He was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania, the son of J. Edward and Eleanor (McDougall) Taylor. He was united in marriage to Janet Elaine Magnuson of LaGrange, IL in January, 1957 at the Fairview Presbyterian Church in Downers Grove, IL. He was a member of the Oswego Presbyterian Church, having served as a Deacon. John served as a Deputy Sheriff in Kendall County both full and part time from 1958 until his retirement in 1995. He was a proud member of the Navy Reserve serving from 1947 until 1967, serving on active duty in French Morocco and on-board the USS R. L. Wilson DDE 847. He was a life member of the Oswego American Legion, Montgomery VFW, 50 year member of Raven Masonic Lodge 303 and Lorraine Chapter #70 of the Eastern Star. He was an active member of the Aurora Golden K Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his wife, Janet Taylor of Boulder Hill, son, CW5 Mark H. Taylor of Ozark, Alabama, daughters Shirley Simonson and Diane Waltrip of Boulder Hill, five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-father. Cremation is being handled by the Cremation Society of Illinois. Greeting of the family will be held at the Oswego Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a Memorial Service following. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Oswego Presbyterian Church.
