John C. Haried

Haried, John C. "Jack" 91 years old, of Naples, FL, formerly of Aurora, IL passed away March 3, 2013. Born on January 17, 1922 in Aurora to Emily Nemecek and Clarence Johan Haried, he attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, graduating in three years in 1943 with a BA in Economics. Immediately after graduation he enlisted in the Army where he served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant at the end of World War II. He married Peggy'O Matthews of Kokomo, Indiana on October 26, 1947, the love of his life for 65 years. Jack began his business career in Aurora, working for the Haried Company with his father selling and installing heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment for commercial and residential customers in the Fox Valley. Jack started two businesses in Aurora - Weatherbee and Energenics, both focused on developing and manufacturing equipment that conserved and re-used energy while still being cost effective. He started manufacturing Energenics equipment in Naples in 1981 and moved with Peg to Naples in 1985. In addition to being a successful businessman, Jack was also an inventive engineer, earning patents for a number of his designs. He sold Energenics, which is still a thriving Naples business, to investors in 1992. Family, community service and golf were Jack's passions. Jack was an Eagle Scout and has a son and two grandsons who are Eagle Scouts. Jack served as finance Chairman and was a Sunday school teacher at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora, and was the Endowment Chairman in the First United Methodist Church in Naples, FL. He was very active in the community in Aurora as a Rotarian and as one of the founders of the Aurora chapter of Ducks Unlimited. After his family and his faith, Jack's true passion was golf. He was twice club champion at the Aurora Country Club and continued playing regularly at Imperial Golf Club in Naples where he occasionally shot his age into his 80's! jack is survived by his loving wife, Peg; daughters, Kathryn of Newburyport, MA, Margaret (Eric) Madson of Plymouth, MN; sons, John (Susan) of Boulder, CO, and James (Vida) of Chicago, IL; seven loving grandchildren, including Emily and John of Plymouth, MN, Sarah of Boulder, CO, Ian of New York, NY and Andrew, Alexander and Julia of Chicago; and three great-granddaughters. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Miriam Potts of Naperville, IL. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 388 1st Ave S., Naples, FL on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will be private.
