Hentschel, Herbert J. "Herb" Age 68 of Morris, passed away November 6, 2012. Herbert was a son of the late Max William and Katharina Simon-Hentschel. He was raised in Aurora and graduated from St. Mary's School and Marmion Military Academy. Herb attended University of Dayton and earned his degree in Physics from Lewis University. Herb enlisted with the US Navy
in 1964 and proudly served primarily on the USS Enterprise prior to his discharge (1970). On November 27, 1971, Herb married Mary Susan Simpson and together they made their home in Morris. Herb retired at 52 from Exelon Nuclear and continued to volunteer for various causes and organizations after retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, American Legion #294, Knight of Columbus, Morris Rotary, Morris Cruise Night Committee, Enterprise Association, and held a position for several years with the Morris Public Building Committee. Survivors include his wife, Susan; sons, Joseph Hentschel of Morris and David Hentschel of Coal City; daughter, Kathryn (Michael) Englert of Morris; one brother, William M. Hentschel of Wheaton; sister, Maria Hentschel-Hensley of Aurora; brother-in-law, Townsend (Holly) Simpson of St. Louis; nieces and nephews, Mary (David) Anderson, Eric Hensley, Steven Hensley, Danny Hensley, Mark Hensley (Fiancé Melissa Marchak), Patrick Hensley, Joanna Hensley (Scott Palmer), Elizabeth (Michael) Dunn, Jennifer (Jeremy) Sinclair, Rachel Simpson and Ben Simpson; and eight great-nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Visitation TODAY, Friday November 9th from 4-8PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street in Morris (815/942-2500). Funeral Mass will follow Saturday, November 10th at 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 East Jackson Street, Morris. Inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at later date.
