Eric J. Shepherd

Shepherd, Eric J. 37, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2013. He was born on November 21, 1975 to Joseph and Debbie Shepherd. He had a very rough start in life as a triplet and shared the womb and life with his two sisters, Sara and Stacey. Eric was employed by Alarm Detection Systems but his true passion was being a police officer. He worked as a part time police officer for the Leland Police Department. Eric graduated from Oswego High School in 1995 and Illinois State University in 1999. Eric also loved working on classic cars. He and his father restored a 1969 Chevelle and later owned a 1970 Nova. He was a whiz with cars and could fix most anything. He was an amazing "hands on" father. He leaves behind his parents, Deb and Joe Shepherd; 2 young daughters, Sydney (8) and Hayden (6); sisters, Sara Shepherd and Stacey (Ed) Davies; nephew, E.J. Davies and niece, Vicki Thwaites. He is also survived by his uncle, Dick Gipson; aunts, Rhonda Shepherd and Kris Hellberg Gipson and cousins, Josh Shepherd, Janelle (Greg) Siebert and Amie Langus. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Betty Gipson; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Lorraine Shepherd and cousin Jamie Shepherd. Family will be receiving guests on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 22 at 10:00 am at the Memorial Home with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL.
