Elmer S. Hollis Jr.

Hollis Jr., Elmer S. "Popo" Passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2013. He was born on March 13, 1927 to the late Elmer and Martha (Wicke) Hollis. Elmer was a lifelong resident of Aurora, Illinois and attended East Aurora High School. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. Elmer and his cigar were permanent fixtures in the window at Crosby's Sporting Goods in Aurora, IL for many years. He enjoyed traveling with his brothers and visiting his grandchildren. Elmer will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity and love for his family and will be deeply missed by all those who were honored to know him. Elmer was a devoted father, raising his two daughters. He is survived by his daughter, Vicky (Ronald) Hayes of Savanna, IL; his son-in-law, Larry Trowbridge, Sugar Grove; his step-children, Carol (Larry) Dodd, Oswego and Ronald (Sharon) Fairbanks, California; his grandchildren, Tara (James) Richter, Elk River, MN; Jacqueline (Brian) Richter, North Aurora, Sean (Emily) Trowbridge, Batavia, and Ryan Hayes, Geneva; and also his great-grandchildren, Carlie and Luke Richter, Christopher and Kaitlyn Richter, Kylie, Dane and Dax Trowbridge and Jillian Hayes. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Al (Mil) Hollis, Montgomery; Dorothy Beem, LaSalle; Marie (Chester) Johnson, North Aurora; and Jack (Patricia) Hollis, St. Charles. Elmer is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who meant so much to him. Elmer was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Trowbridge; wife, Eleanore (Fairbanks) Hollis; eldest brother, Edward Hollis; brother-in-law, John Beem; sister-in-law, Kitty Hollis; niece, Kathy Hollis and nephew, Richard Miller, who was like a son.
