Evans, Donald L. 67, of Washington, IL died at 12:28 AM Monday, April 15, 2013 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on November 27, 1945 in Aurora, IL to Robert J. and Alice M. (Wittry) Evans, he married Margaret Lucille "Lucie" DeVous on August 12, 1972 in Ridgway, IL. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Patrick Evans of Hudson; two daughters, Kristin (Mike) Techmanski of Bloomington and Jill (Anthony) La Penna of Chicago; two brothers, James (Sue) Evans of Aurora and Ronald Evans of Sugar Grove and his stepmother, Lorraine Evans of Plainfield. Don was also a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, Sylvia, Jonas, and Maeve Techmanski and Xavier La Penna. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary. Don was a U.S. Army

He thoroughly enjoyed his career at Caterpillar, Inc. for 37 years where he worked in management positions at the Aurora and Davenport, IA plants, retiring from the Mossville CAT facility as Logistics Manager in 2003. His dedication brought him back to CAT as a consultant for almost four additional years. Don was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Father John Menco Council #6707, the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Spalding Assembly, and the VFW
Post #9016 in Washington. Don enjoyed golfing and fishing with all of his many friends and family and "running the roads" with Lucie and the kids. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45. Additional visitation will be one half hour prior to mass at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington where military rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria, or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
