Daniel D. Guddendorf

Guddendorf, Daniel D. "Dan" 81, of Aurora passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Dan was born December 17, 1931 in Aurora to Frank M. and Mildred Guddendorf. He attended St. Therese Elementary and Marmion Military Academy. After serving his country in the Army during the Korean War, Dan worked for Nicor for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He then began his second career with Fox Valley Ford, where he worked for 22 years. Dan was an avid gardener and general "tinkerer". He volunteered 20 years of his time as a coach with Boys Baseball of Aurora. He was also actively involved at Marmion Academy as a member of the alumni board. When not on the go, Dan could be found watching his beloved Fighting Irish, the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. He is survived by his sons, Dan (Jackie) Guddendorf of Papillion, NE and Jim (Brooke) Guddendorf of Aurora and his grandchildren, Mykenzie, Jude and Jenna Guddendorf and Amber and Brooke Nell. Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, "Peg"; his sisters, Gretchen Krantz and Vivian Guddendorf and a grandson, Liam Guddendorf. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, to Annunciation Church at 10:00 a.m., Fr. Patrick Gillmeyer, O.S.B. will officiate, with interment at Marywood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora. 630-631-5500.
