Morrow, Barbara Biever 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Provena Mercy's Fox Knoll Memory Care Center. She was born April 19, 1930, in Aurora to the late Clarence and Pauline (Houlne) Biever, thus beginning a third generation of the family in Aurora. Barbara had an almost lifetime association with Freeman Grade School, beginning there as a kindergartner and later for 23 years as a third grade teacher. As a teacher, Barbara was an innovator of the still continuing third grade's school-wide Thanksgiving feast honoring the original Pilgrims coming to America. In 1997, she was a recipient of the coveted "Golden Apple Award" and later was honored at Freeman's 75-year anniversary celebration. Barbara graduated from West Aurora High School and in 1952, from Northwestern University
with a Bachelor of Science degree. It was while being employed in Chicago, that she met and married Gerald Morrow, deferring her career ambitions while raising their four children. She pursued her teaching degree at Aurora University when her children began their education at Freeman. Barbara was also active in the community including volunteering with Holy Angels Catholic Church, Pressed Glass Club, the P.E.O and many years with Provena Mercy, serving as the Mercy Auxiliary Board President in 1997. Family was central to Barbara. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerald, of Aurora; her children, Susan (Harry), Mark (Cece), Melissa (Mark) and Jill (Brian), all of Minneapolis-St. Paul; and grandchildren, Alex, Mitchell and Will Summitt, Elizabeth Morrow, Caroline and Anna Olson, and Hannah and Joseph Guimont; and her brother, John (Barbara) of Aurora; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara's family is especially appreciative of the special care she has received from her 'girlfriend/caregiver', Lori Krueger, and from Provena Fox Knoll, Plum Landing, Seasons Hospice and BrightStar Care. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl, Aurora, IL 60506.
